The George Washington Memorial Bridge is commonly known as the Aurora Bridge. This arch-truss bridge was dedicated on the President’s 200th birthday in 1932. The bridge crosses the Lake Union section of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. The area is a central hub of daily renewal for locals – a busy launching site for rowers and paddlers along side the Burke-Gilman Trail used by walkers, runners and cyclists.
